Pregnancy Massage Therapy
Pregnancy massage can be of enormous benefit not only to you, as mother, but also to your unborn baby. It can be a beautiful, powerful and deeply connecting experience.
It is safe for you to receive massage during your 2nd and 3rd trimester. In certain circumstances it may be advised to seek advice from your care provider as to whether massage therapy is suitable.
I am honoured to be able to offer this treatment. You and your baby will be held with great respect, and with appreciation for what it may mean for you to allow someone else into this space, with you and your baby.
Pregnancy massage is slow, nurturing and deeply relaxing, using medium to light pressure. You will be lying on your side during most of the session, supported by pillows, with a short time on your back. This massage includes face and scalp massage.
I am an experienced and intuitive therapist with a strong attuned presence. This is a space for you to be seen and heard, and to receive.
Pregnancy massage supports a pregnant woman on many levels; emotionally, physiologically, energetically, spiritually.
During pregnancy, many changes are happening in a woman's body. Pressure is put on joints, ligaments and organs, often causing discomfort and pain.
Massage can help alleviate aches and pains, and other common health problems associated with pregnancy.
Massage can help reduce stress levels for the mother, lowering cortisol. The ‘feel good’ hormones such as oxytocin, serotonin, dopamine are released by the mother and passed on to the baby, which can benefit the baby greatly.
Massage increases blood flow which increases the amount of oxygen and nutrients delivered to the baby.

Massage Therapy is a space for the mother to really receive
Massage Therapy is a space for the mother to really receive. At a time when she will already be giving so much to the baby physically and emotionally, and preparing for the arrival of her baby, where her giving will of course, increase greatly. It is a really important and special thing for the mother to receive in this way, during pregnancy.
Massage can also help prepare the mother’s body for birth.
Receiving regular massage during pregnancy can make the mother more aware of her body. This can help with the ability to relax during the 1st stage of labour, often resulting in shorter and easier births, less pain and a lower rate of postnatal complications (e.g fewer premature births).
Regular massage can lead to increased breastfeeding success due to the increased prolactin and mammary development.
